Bug Description

running dapper flight3 liveCD i386 on my dell dimension 9100, I have no network at all working. I had not noticed it was not working in flight2, so I guess it was...

I can provide more details and/or perform tests if needed

running kubuntu dapper flight livecd3, networking is disabled (no eth0 interface) on my computer too.
i have an asus a7n8x deluxe motherboard (nforce2 based) with both nforce and realtek ethernet adapters onboard. pc is connected to a router/dhcp server via the nforce ethernet port. networking works out of the box in breezy.

there is a workaround though!
i can go into the kde system settings > networking > admin mode and enable the two ethernet adapters (they're actually recognized but disabled by default!). then i can run sudo ifup eth0 from a terminal to get an ip from my dhcp server and everything works.

The same situation here: the network card is not configured by default, but can be easily configured and activated via System->Administration->Networking.

I am new to Linux but I also use an ethernet router which is on eth1. The live cd, version 5.10, seems to be looking at eth0. As a result, I cannot access the internet and have been unable to change this situation. Naturally, the system also fails to set the clock. On one attempt to correct the problem, I was asked the network name. The default is Ubuntu But I used the MS default of MShome. I made the name change but could still not access eth1 and the internet. I am running a Dell Inspirion 9200 laptop computer. There are a total of five computers on the network.

Also I'm using Dapper upgraded from a 5.04, and doesn't bring up any interface, neither eth0 nor loopback.

I can configure them later on the console.

This bug is about the live CD, which I sincerely hope you've not
upgraded from 5.04. :-)

I'm also using the Dapper Drake Live CD (Flight 3) with a Dell Dimension 2400 Series and had to go into network settings and activate my ethernet card at eth0, it wasn't configured during the boot up.
