Bug Description

When I boot Ubuntu 5.10 Preview LiveCD (AMD64) I get these arrors during booting:

Bummer, could not run '/sbin/debian-installer' : No such file or directory.

Yes, casper needs to make the death throes of the old root filesystem a bit quieter.

I'm not sure what casper can do about this, apart from staying away from vt1
(which is problematic due to bug #21080). I suppose it could explicitly kill
d-i first, wait for it to die, clear the screen, and then signal init?

The easiest solution that comes to mind is to install temporary versions of
those two files in /target which just call sleep or similar; those processes
will presumably be in d-i's process tree and thus will be killed by init shortly
afterwards.

Killing d-i probably won't help this particular problem because init will
immediately try to respawn it. You'd have to edit the respawn entry out of
/etc/inittab, telinit q, and then kill it, which gets messy ...

Matt, could you merge <email address hidden>/casper--quieten--0
please? I've tested it and it fixes this bug for me.
