After install completes, Xubuntu 16.04 hangs on reboot

2015-10-27 Xubuntu xenial-desktop-i386 image.

After installing the image on Virtual Box (install entire disk), and at the prompt "Installation Complete" upon clicking the "Restart now" button the system hanged and didn't reboot, forcing a hard shut-down.

I'm adding a compressed tar archive of the /var/log/installer directory.

same with Ubuntu - I would assume that it's going to be any of the flavours.

I tried with today's daily Lubuntu i386 in a real computer. It works. (I booted the iso file via grub, 'grub-n-iso').

I should add that I installed manually, 'Something else', with sda6 as root and sda2 as swap.

After fresh installing Xubuntu and rebooting, a blank screen appears after 'Xubuntu 16.04 and 4 dots'.
