Choosing check disc for defects in Ubuntu GNOME Trusty displays no readable text

Bug #1262841 reported by Erick Brunzell on 2013-12-19

casper (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

I've been testing Ubuntu GNOME Alpha 1 candidates and rather than displaying text you just see a long string of rectangles.

I would normally not report a problem like this at "alpha" stage but I think it may be loosely related to bug #1260473 and bug #1262824 in that it may be gtk related.

You can however display the text of the test by pressing Esc if you wait until the test is in progress.

I'll follow up ASAP with some pictures.

This is what the initial screen looks like.

If you wait about one minute and press esc you will see this.

And if you then wait a few more minutes the test completes and displays the final results.

In case it's helpful this also effects Xubuntu, but the Edubuntu Alpha 1 images are OK.

This appears to be fixed in Ubuntu GNOME 20140121.1 amd64 but I'll follow up later.

Certainly working OK in Ubuntu GNOME Trusty Beta 1 so I marked it fix released.
