Ubuntu Phone BQ: Camera makes shooting sound in silent mode

Hi!

Steps:
1. Put your phone in silent mode.
2. Take a picture > Bug: The camera app makes shooting sound = In silent mode its shoudn't make that sound.

Thanks for the bug report costales!
I can confirm it is indeed an issue.

As a workaround you can lower the volume to the minimum, that way the shutter sound will not be heard.

Probably related:
the QML Audio object (QtMultimedia.Audio) has a mute property, but this property is always false, no matter whether the system is muted or not

When this bug is fixed it would be great if you can mute/adjust volume of the camera app independently.
In quiet places the current shooting sound is too loud.

that one is quite annoying, it's impossible to take photos without making sound which can be embarassing in some situations ... maybe a good one to get on the ota8 or 9 list?

Comment from design with guidance on desired behavior:

Seems like some local regulations require that sound to be mandatory (see e.g https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6545682?tstart=0) so it might not be as easy as changing the code...

From what I can tell this is a law in Japan and South Korea which are not currently markets served but could be. Lets implement the silencing but also with some sort of runtime or buildtime control to enable the shutter sound all the time.
