I have seen this error "Specified key was too long; max key length is 1000 bytes" when I tried to install an older version of cacti on a newer MariaDB. Is the MySQL/MariaDB server running the default Ubuntu package on the localhost or is it running remotely? If the latter which one (MySQL or MariaDB) is it running and which version.
