Bug Description

There are several issues with tlp in budgie.

Uninstalling also removes budgie-desktop-environment and ubuntu-budgie-desktop due to package dependencies.

budgie desktop should be installed in order to perform dist-upgrades.
With a broken tlp this is a risky constellation.

Also: In standard Ubuntu tlp is not installed by default. So it is not really required (it benefits Thinkpad users)

TLP is uninstallable for 17.10.

For the majority of users TLP does not cause issues. So it more beneficial for the majority.

If you enable backports via budgie welcome recommendations and update you will be able to also uninstall TLP without affecting core packages

Thanks for the hint regarding backports. I had it set in the software settings but obviously this did not include the budgie ppa.

The same dependency is still in place in ubuntu-budgie-desktop

Btw: It was not easy to figure out the source of several issues. I doubt that ordinary users might go out of their way to find the cause of thermal issues, issues with bluetooth, network connection problems and sudden fan frantics. They simply switch to Windows / macOS instead.

Maybe you reconsider packing tlp by default. I cannot see the benefits in a package that limits battery charging to 88% (reducing the offline lifetime to < 5h) or all the other settings that the kernel can handle so elegantly (but that is up to you as long as one can get rid of it)

as mentioned - TLP is uninstallable in 17.10 and as such this is fixed
