Wishlist: make calendar aware of locale

It'd be nice if calendar could detect that I'm using, say, en_US locale and not display French-language calendar entries, as it does by default.

I'm filing this against bsdmainutils 6.1.10ubuntu4, in Karmic.

How shall it figure out that you, while running on an English locale, do not want or even understand French entries?

Perhaps a configuration question when the package is installed - something like "I see your locale is US English. Do you want to display calendar entries for only this locale?" and defaulting to Yes.

It's a little silly to spam me with all available calendar entries by default.

Given that you can configure which calendar is used I wonder if we can close this bug.

No. Unless that's changed recently, your customized entries under /usr/share/calendar get overwritten when the package is upgraded anyway.

"I don't care" isn't a valid reason to close a bug report.

A related issue: I really don't want to see russian "holidays" by default as they've now became homicidal maniacs that want to kill me and my friends.
