Bug Description
Binary package hint: brasero
Attaching a screenshot to demonstrate the problem.
This is in Ubuntu 10.10. I have not confirmed that it exists in earlier versions of Ubuntu, but I do suspect that to be the case.
Brasero won't recognize a blank BD-R. I can, however, burn ISO images to blank BD-R media from the command line, so I know that the underlying utilities support it.

I cannot confirm that it has been fixed for 11.04 because I will not be installing that on my primary workstation; it has too many issues and the user interface that it has is really poor; having tried it on a secondary workstation I have found it to be a significant drag on my productivity. Being that 10.10 is still a supported release, and this bug is against 10.10, it is still a valid bug (not incomplete) and I will return the status to New. Thanks.

This hasn't been fixed in 12.04. This is clearly a bug because BD-RE media works.

Also, can you give me a clue how to write the ISO from command line? I need to get this done some time this decade :(

To burn a pre-mastered image:
growisofs -Z /dev/sr0=
To burn a directory tree:
growisofs -Z /dev/dvd -R -J /path/to/
If you need more information, see “man growisofs” or “man mkisofs”. Or whatever Ubuntu calls its versions of the utilities; I don't remember anymore, as I haven't used Ubuntu in some time.

Ah interesting. I've been reading the brasero bugs on gnome bugzilla and it seems they use wodim and not growisofs?

Perhaps a bug watch is in order, although that bug seems stalled and is rather generic.
Anyway, thanks.
Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http:// www.ubuntu. com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance and sorry for the late response.
