Bug Description

Binary package hint: brasero

I noticed this first with the VCD plugin with totem.
But the same problem happens under brasero.
brasero tells me that the cd or DVD is unsuitable.
OS tells me the disks are empty.
Also have issues burning music disks. Doesn't finish. Doesn't get out of normalizing files.
but iso's burn fine.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/brasero
Package: brasero 2.26.1-0ubuntu1
ProcEnviron:
 LANG=en_US.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: brasero
Uname: Linux 2.6.28-13-generic i686

Thanks for your report, could you run brasero from the command line as: brasero --brasero-media-debug --debug &> brasero-debug.txt perform the operation to reproduce the bug and attach the resulting file to the report?. Thanks in advance

Changed in brasero (Ubuntu):
assignee: nobody → Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs)
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Incomplete

Sure when I get home.
Send it to you?

Comment #6 is not related to the other comments, but it is easy to fix:

Just use working backend software like:

ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/

http://cdrecord.berlios.de/

Note that wodim does not properly support to write DVDs as the working DVD
code from the original cdrecord sources was removed and replaced with different
but half-baken code.

If you like to write VCDs, you need sufficient support for the CUE/BIN format
that is in recent cdrtools but not in wodim or cdrdao.

This is happening to me too. I tried to burn some vids to vcd for my wife but I couldn't because of this same bug.

Schily, how can I change the backend?, I'm very interested in cdrtools.
