Binary package hint: brasero

Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release: 8.04
apt-cache policy brasero
brasero:
Installed: 0.8.1-0ubuntu2~
Candidate: 0.8.1-0ubuntu2~

I created an Audio CD with Brasero. The CD consisted of two identical music tracks, transcoded from the same MP3 file (from an external USB drive, a Western Digital 1 TB "My Book" unit), with no 2-second break inserted between the tracks.
The CD played OK, and all seemed well.
I used Project > Save As to save it as a "Brasero audio project" on the same drive and in the same folder as the original MP3 file.
I closed Brasero and reopened it.
On the "Create a new project" page, I clicked on the name of the project under "Choose a recently opened project". The light on the USB drive came on and it seemed to have some activity, but then nothing happened.
I inserted a blanc CD-R and waited for the system to mount it.
Again, I clicked on the name of the project under "Choose a recently opened project". The light on the USB drive came on and it seemed to have some activity, but then nothing happened.
I clicked "Audio project: Create a traditional audio CD".
I used Project > Recent projects to select the recent project. The light on the USB drive came on and it seemed to have some activity, but then I got kicked back out to the "Create a new project" page.
Again, I clicked "Audio project: Create a traditional audio CD".
I used Project > Open to open the recent project manually. The light on the USB drive came on and it seemed to have some activity, but then nothing happened. No tracks were shown in the right pane. The status bar at bottom right still showed "Empty (1 h 20 free on CD-R)".
I added the MP3 file to the right pane manually again (twice, as before), and burned the CD-R successfully again.
It would be very useful if opening a saved project worked, especially when creating more complex CDs, as it would save time on reassembling the files to be burned.
Thanks in advance for your help.
