Bug Description

Binary package hint: brasero

Can't get to duplicate an audio CD. Brasero says it can't lock the device. I have 2 recordable drives, and I have tried every possible combination (audio cd in drive 1, recordable cd in drive 2, viceversa) but everytime I got the same result.

This is a copy of the log I got:

(brasero:31769): BraseroBurn-DEBUG: Session starting:
 flags = 24695
 media type = 0
 speed = 0
 track type = 9
 track format = 63
 output = none
(brasero:31769): BraseroBurn-DEBUG: Session error : the drive can't be locked (Extracting audio from CD)

Using Brasero 0.5.2-0ubuntu1.1 and Ubuntu Feisty.

Thank you for your report. Can you please try to reproduce the problem with newest update of Brasero in Gutsy?

Problem should be fixed in Gutsy now, with recent libisofs and Gutsy Brasero uploads.

Hi,

Do you still have this issue with the last gutsy revision (0.6.0-2ubuntu1)?
Thanks.

Sorry, but I've been quite busy. I'll try now that I updated to Gutsy to see if I can still reproduce the problem.

I too get the "drive can't be locked" message from Brasero, but in my case, I was trying to burn an audio CD. Where Brasero failed, GnomeBaker worked. I'm using a fully updated Gutsy, installed less than a week ago.

Re-opening, since I'm getting a similar error message with the latest Gutsy.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

I have this problem with intrepid (well, the line number is different).

Burning an audio CD with serpentine works fine though. Can someone reopen this, or should I file a new bug?

I have come across this three times in the past month in Launchpad Answers and on the Ubuntu-Users list.

I have encouraged these users to file bug reports; however, it seems the outcome for most of these people is to simply change to another application (because it is the easiest course of action).

The only bug that I can see in Gnome's bug tracking system, upstream, is the bug linked above. However, is anyone working on this upstream definitively or is more information needed? It seems like there is a lack of information.
