Bug Description

Steps to reproduce :
- launch BOINC Manager
- try to close it from the launcher (right-clic -> Quit), or from the menu (File->Close)

Expected behavior : BOINC Manager exits and disappears from the launcher (if not locked)

On my installation, the icon does not disappear, and the process boincmgr is still alive.
I have to kill the process or reboot to make it disappear.

7.0.23 has this fixed from what I observe.
Coming.

mmm I see that boincmgr is closed, but I continue to see a "boinc" process running and the boinc tasks (i.e. astropulse)

Confirming with 7.0.24 (partly):
 - Ctrl-Q and File => Close works as expected
 - Alt-F4 or Quit from the unity icon menu only minimizes the BOINC window

That would be expected depending on the default answer when closing the manager the first time, where you're asked if you want to keep the processes running in the background.

sorry this is right, of course "boinc" is still running because is needed from astropulse and other applications...

I sent a mail upstream, I have to say I'm responsible for this bug, since I don't remember when but I sent a mail to Rom about a serious bug (showstopper I think) that was triggered in the closing system (or reducing to icon), something like a hang in the boinc program and a exigence to manually kill the process to make it work again, and I remember Rom fixed it by don't letting boinc manager to be reduced.

In the past it was the better way to solve a serious bug by introducing this one...

I hope they will fix this upstream.

File > Close Window (Ctrl+W), like Launcher > right-click > Quit, only closes the *window*, but the Manager is still running, so it is a sort of "Minimize".

To really exit the Manager application, and make it disappear from Launcher, use File > Exit BOINC Manager (Ctrl+Q). Notice this will exit the *Manager*, but not necessarily shut down boinc and its background tasks. For that you must also confirm you want to shut down tasks when exiting the Manager (if needed, enable this confirmation in Tools > Options)

So I guess the bug does not apply, or it was fixed already somewhere between OP's 7.0.7 and current 7.0.27: kill the process or reboot is not necessary and Ctrl+Q is not a workaround, but the intended way to completely exit the Manager.
