Bug Description

I an a notice with Ubuntu, so I have no idea what failed, but if I had to draw an analogy to Windows, I would describe it like a 'blue screen of death' - the mouse pointer moved on the screen but menus were frozen; I would not open or close other applications and even the start button was non-functional.

As there were no other applications running in the foreground other then BOINC, I assumed it was the problem so after doing a hard reboot, I tried to remove it through the Software center and that failed as well - with the progress bar reaching about 70% and then freezing. After allowing more than an hour for the removal to complete, I did a warm reboot of the system. But when I went back to Software Center, it still showed the removal in progress, but it never removed it.

Interestingly, since installing 15.04, the system has been stable, with the exception of boinc-client 7.4.23. bit it should be noted that I upgraded 2 of my computers to 15.04 and Boinc 7.4.23 at the same time and the other machine has not experienced this same issue with Boinc, so I'm beginning to suspect that this computer may have a hard drive controller issue.

Thank you
