boinc client quit communicating with manager after installing kubuntu-desktop onto xubuntu 6.10

Bug Description

I installed Xubuntu 6.10 recently. Everything works ok, then decided to take advantage of Kubuntu (much superior). Now, Boinc client loads at start time, then quits suddenly. Removing all boinc packages and reinstalling made no difference. Manager runs ok, but no communication with the client.

It's me again. I got it working by myself working on a hunch. Boinc runs fine after uninstalling KmyFirewall. As I could not find an easy way to fix it, I am looking for another firewall instead. Maybe KmyFirewall author should make the program a bit more user-friendly.

I opened everything under incoming and outgoing. The localhost is shown as 'friendly' in the firewall, but still it blocked boinc client from talking with KBoincSpy.

Thanks for giving this bug attention.

BOINC uses port 31416, so you should not restrict access to this port for
localhost and you should make sure that you used localhost as host in
KBoincSpy's "Add Location" dialog. (I assume boinc-client and kboincspy are
installed on the same host.)
