Hi, thanks for the bug report. So first thing's first, what bluez daemon version is installed? Can you make sure you have the latest?

Next, karmic will soon be switching focus to the gnome-bluetooth applet (rather than bluez-gnome). Can you install that, and then logout/in and see if it's any better for you?

If not, then can you attach the latest /var/log/daemon.log with the trouble pairing?

This seems like https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/343727 bug for Jaunty!

Hopefully this can give more insight and someone will fix it ... eventually... I really hoped Karmic will fix it!

Try the sudo hidd --search command (requires installing bluez-compatibility package - if it's still available in karmic)

*dont* use hidd in karmic to try to solve this! That is just a bandaid
and not going to solve the problem.

I had the same issue, Its resolved by choosing a 2.6.28 kernel from the grub menu. The rpoblem was with 2.6.31, havnt tried 2.6.30.
Same result with bluez 4.45 from ubuntu, and 4.46 from bluez git. (havnt patched kernel or anything silly like that yet, maybee try that if not much movement here)

Yes, this is almost certainly a duplicate of:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/343727

As the above mentioned symptoms are exactly what 386224 describes, and the workaround in 343727 solves them.
