Bug Description

Binary package hint: bluez

I found such errors in "~/.xsession-errors".
Currently I do not use the bluetooth feature, so I cannot tell if it is working.

Same error message (repeats multiple times):
ALSA lib pcm_bluetooth.c:1569:(audioservice_expect) BT_GET_CAPABILITIES failed : Input/output error(5)

This happens using Kubuntu 9.04 (KDE). In Skype I have no sound and calls are aborted with an error message. On the same machine, using Ubuntu 9.04 (Gnome), Skype worked just fine.

I have seen in other bug reports that this is a problem with the x64 version of libasound.so.2.0.0.0 which is lacking symbols because it was not compiled right.

Can confirm this occurs on skype. Occasionally skype sound cuts out, and requires complete computer restart to recover (wish I knew some simple way to restart/reload all sound daemons).

Skype dies regularly in Jaunty during voice use, the cpu hits 100% and it has to be killed and restarted. Not sure if this is related to this bug but it certainly coincides with it. bug 386817 is possibly related. Swerling.. you can kill Skype and Skype.real using the System->Administration->System Monitor and restart using Applications->Internet->Skype. You should not need to reboot.

Since upgrading to Jaunty, I get this same error with Skype on two different computers (a laptop and a desktop). I have no sound on skype on either. Changing to SoundOut device in the Skype settings has no effect - I have tried all the options to no luck. If someone has an idea how to work around this, some assistance would be greatly appreciated as not having skype is a real pain (occasionally forcing me to reboot into windows!).

I don't have any problems with Skype sound any more after the latest update of Skype. There is now PulseAudio support.
If you still have problems and haven't updated yet, try it.
It's still a "beta" version, but having sound without problems is a lot more important to me than the occasional glitch.

I'm getting the following using Skype 2.1.0.47 on Kubuntu 9.10 (kernel 2.6.31-20-generic):

ALSA lib audio/pcm_bluetooth.c:1607:(audioservice_expect) BT_GET_CAPABILITIES failed : Input/output error(5)

Sound is working but the microphone is causing problems. Sometimes it works but after some time stops working without any message. I'm not using pulse.

Nasekomaya you are using a very old version of Skype, go to the Skype website and get the latest. I am on version 2.1.0.81. It is not perfect but I certainly don't get the problems any more. If it doesn't work after upgrade delete your .Skype folder from your home directory, and put in your login credentials again.
