Bug Description
Binary package hint: bluez-utils
When I pulled out my Sony Ericsson F100i phone and connected it to Ubuntu Lucid via Bluetooth, I was very impressed to have it ask me if I wanted the phone to remote control the computer. This was all through a very pretty, and largely automatic, GUI. The phone then has all the options to skip tracks, pause playback etc. Very impressive. Out of the box, though, it doesn't really work…Rhythmbox understood some commands, but not many. Turns out that you have to send a configuration file to the phone:

It would be very helpful if these .hid files were bundled with Bluez and it gave a GUI after the "do you want to allow remote control" message giving you a list:
"You have the following media players installed on your computer, please select which you would like to control:
* …
* …
"
Obviously, in an ideal world, you wouldn't need to send anything to the phone. Given that you do, it would be great if this was provided through the GUI. The rest of the process is so automatic that I didn't expect to have to go hunting around for configuration files—it felt like it should "just work".
