Bug Description

Binary package hint: bluez-gnome

I'm attaching a patch I wrote that finishes the half-complete bluetooth connection wizard in bluez-gnome. It's kind of a big patch (~1800 lines).

It enables the commented-out wizard already in the code, fleshes it out, and adds some nice UI touches. It allows a user to connect a keyboard, mouse, or headset.

I worked to get it in upstream a while ago, but they have since gone ahead with a unrelated effort to finish the wizard, partly due to internal 4.x changes. That code is available in bluez-gnome 1.1.

In the meantime (for intrepid), this patch might be useful. I know we're past UI freeze, but maybe for 8.10.1.

Here's an adaptation that "compiles" against 0.28, but isn't entirely functional.

Here's a patch against bluez-utils to fix the issue you saw with the bluez-gnome wizard. bluez-utils had a bug where all security agent registrations would fail because they didn't pass in the adapter as user_data. This debdiff against bluez-utils together with your updated bluez-gnome 0.28 patch should make everything work (at least, it made my BT mouse work. :) )

The new BlueZ 4.x stuff in Intrepid invalidates the necessity of this. Upstream has a wizard shipped with 4.x
