Bug Description

OS : 11.10
kernel version: 3.0.0-13-generic
bluez package package version: 4.96-0ubuntu4
pulse audio package version: 1:1.0-0ubuntu3.1

I am facing this problem with my bluetooth headset which was working perfectly in 11.04.This happens on an already paired device. So I am forced to re-discover/pair the device on every system boot.

I am able to successfully use the device post pairing using the device setup wizard for the duration of that OS session. See the Log below:

I suspect a problem in bluez being unable to retrieve or read the pairing PIN code. This bug reported in

 http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-bugs/2011-11/msg00450.html

may be the cause.

The same exact issue happens with me. I am not very technical so I don't know how to troubleshoot the root cause. I am also using 11.10 and I'm able to successfully pair and use the headset just after pairing. As soon as I disconnect, I am not able to reconnect with the headset without deleting and repairing. The issue occurs using the standard Ubuntu Bluetooth Wizard as well as Blueman app.

The same headset and bluetooth usb dongle worked fine in 11.04 and 10.10. I've read other places that it may be a bug in the Linux kernel.
