Bug Description

Bluefish 1.0.4 (version included in Dapper) segfaults when trying to open the quickstart dialog on the toolbar. This has been fixed upstream in the 1.0.5 release.
See http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=339015 and http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324836

In Debian bug http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=349584 there is a comment from an Ubuntu developer (Stephan Hermann):
"If you could tell me, that 1.0.5-1 in debian will make it into the archives before the 23rd of February, then I could formulate an UVF Exception Report and try to get a bugfixed version into dapper (numbered 1.0.5-1 synced from debian)."

Is it still feasable to get the new upstream release pushed into Dapper?

The current version of bluefish in dapper should already contain the fix for http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324836. So this is probably not a duplicate of http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=339015 and I was probably wrong. I've added an entry to upstream BTS.

While there is a patch for this crash in the Ubuntu tree (1.0.4), it looks like debain/rules does not contain a 'patch' target to apply it

I can definitely say that this happens on my dapper system running bluefish 1.0.4. Every time I try to use the quick start dialog, bluefish crashes.

So ask your MOTUs to add the necessary "patch" target to the debian/rules file, which was forgotten by the last MOTU packager of bluefish.

Hi Daniel,
Who is our MOTU? Launchpad lists you as as the creator for the bluefish package, but I assume that is in relation to the debian package and you have no access to the ubuntu servers? Do you have any idea who to contact?

Yes, Alastair, that's right. I don't know, who is responsible for the Ubuntu package (in Debian we have a central point, if the maintainer doesn't react). I wrote Daniel Holbach last week and offered to care about the Ubuntu packages too, but didn't get any answer. Maybe you should contact the last Ubuntu MOTU of this package, which was Stepan Hermann (see http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/universe/b/bluefish/bluefish_1.0.4-1ubuntu2/changelog).

So this bug will be hopefully fixed soon.

I can confirm it too (Bluefish 1.0.4 in Dapper). Shouldn't this bug be changed to "confirmed" ?

Changed in bluefish:
status: Unconfirmed → Confirmed
