Bug Description

Binary package hint: blender

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS \n \l
Linux cd-a03-5 2.6.32-22-generic #33-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 28 13:28:05 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux

blender:
  Geïnstalleerd: 2.49.2~dfsg-1ubuntu1
  Kandidaat: 2.49.2~dfsg-1ubuntu1
  Versietabel:
 *** 2.49.2~dfsg-1ubuntu1 0
        500 http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/universe Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

When I start blender it crashes after a few seconds, throwing me back to the login screen. Starting blender from a terminal gives me no clues as well as the system logs me out right away.

After logging in again dmesg shows: [ 1126.943827] blender-bin[4386]: segfault at 0 ip 00007f3353ecf8d3 sp 00007fff226ae4c0 error 4 in i965_dri.so[7f3353eb3000+286000]

Already tried to:
reinstall blender --> no effect
deleting .blender folder --> no effect

The segfault pointed to the videodriver so I tried the inteldriver from this ppa:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ppa/ubuntu lucid main.

This action stops blender from crashing, the fact remains that the default intel driver (package: xserver-xorg-video-intel) doesn't work well with blender. Should I close the bug now?
