Blender crashes on render (Focal, Ubuntu Studio)

Bug Description
On a default Ubuntu Studio installation, when I try to render, even the default scene (1 cube, 1 camera, 1 light) it crashes. Command line output:

Ubuntu Studio is installed on a secondary partition, but installing blender from the repositories on my main desktop, Xubuntu 20.04, results in the same error.
When I download the binary from the blender website, it works.
