Bug Description

Using CUDA acceleration of Blender on lubuntu, it crashes sometimes.
I think it happens because of the overload of the 3D software.
It has happened to me sometimes, after a long time making a design.
It usually happens when I forget to save the .blend file constantly.
I would like someone to give me some advice to avoid these crashes

When I use Blender on Windows, it crashes sometimes too by overload, and Windows ask to send a report.
I thought that, being open source, it may save the progress of the designing under linux, and to be possible to recover the session, and don't lost it.

Thanks

In user preferences, under the "File" tab, you will find a field labelled "Save Versions". Here you can choose how many auto-save files blender should keep. To enable auto-save, still in the user preferences, under the "File" tab, tick the "Auto Save Temporary Files" box (should be set by default), to adjust the auto-save interval, use the field bellow labelled "Timer (mins)".

If you set the "save versions" to "3" and the timer to "5", in the same folder where your .blend is saved, you will after 5 minutes you will have a file called .blend1, after 10 minutes, a file called .blend2. These are basically "backups" to recover your session.

Hope this helps.
