Downloaded Blender from Thomas Schiex PPA.

1. Kubuntu 14.04

3. Expected to select h264 in the dropdown menu in the properties of the video editor.

4. The application hung for a few seconds then crashed.

For using H.264, you need to install libav*-extra-* packages, though crashing is still problem.
