The version 2.44 of blender supports python 2.5, the package should use that version, as it is the official Ubuntu version at the moment.

Gusty already has version 2.44 in the repositories.

If you want to request this version in Feisty, or any other released version, you will want to follow the Backports request process: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BackportRequestProcess?highlight=%28backport%29 (if the new version qualifies).

Ah, I'm sorry! The infobot on IRC told me 2.43 was still in gutsy. Must be the lag. ;)

The version in gutsy is using python 2.4 at the moment, so this not yet fixed.

Have you tested that this does not lead to problems, e.g. game engine crashes?

Debdiff applies and builds just fine, however, I'd like to know how and what did you exactly do to verify that blender actually works with python2.5?

Asking the debian maintainer might be a good idea here.

Blender 2.44 supports Python 2.4 and 2.5. As in bug description, it's a good change because the current version of Python in Ubuntu is 2.5, not 2.4.

Lukas,

You made an update tomorrow and your version brokes my debdiff. So, that's the another debdiff with new version. It's already tested by me and like i said, is supported by Blender 2.44. You're mentoring this bug, could be better for you to sponsor my debdiff.

Thanks!
