Thanks for taking the time to submit this bug.
Googling shows several others have run into this, so it definately appears to be a real bug, somewhere.
Did you have senmdail previously installed and then delete it? Do you recall whether you removed it with 'apt-get remove' or 'apt-get purge'?
The file /etc/resolvconf /update- libc.d/ sendmail is installed by sendmail's debian/Makefile. I should still expect it to be removed upon uninstallation.
This bug should likely be re-targeted to sendmail. For now I'm marking Incomplete awaiting your response.
