Package recommends nonexistent "bind-doc" package

Bug Description

On a freshly installed and fully updated Ubuntu Server 22.04 LTS instance, attempting to run "apt-get install bind9" result in output that suggests the package "bind-doc" should be installed. Attempting to install "bind-doc" fails, because no such package exists. The appropriate package name to which this suggestion should point is "bind9-doc".

Thanks for making this bug report and making Ubuntu better Bradley!

This is very easy to reproduce. There was some history around renaming in the debian commit history that I was reading, and I think this was accidentally changed up in Debian. I submitted a MR to update this in debian[0] so we will see how that goes.

Regarding this bug, it does guide the user to installing the bind9-doc package. I don't particularly think this bug is worth SRUing for, but should definitely be picked up for the next development release. Please let me know if you think otherwise.

I am marking this bug as triaged but setting its importance to Low. It should be fixed whenever we make a new bind9 upload on Jammy (likely an MRE). I left a comment on the MRE bug #2040459.

Changed in bind9 (Ubuntu):
status: New → Triaged
importance: Undecided → Low
