Bug Description

I used Ubuntu Feisty and the package libdns22 was installed on my computer and libdns32 too.

I recently installed a new computer on Gutsy, and make an upgrade from the other one. The new could use .local adresses, but the old couldn't. After looking at packages installed on both, I founded that libdns22 prevent to use .local adresses. After removing it, it worked fine.

If you need more information about MulticastDNS, http://avahi.org/wiki/AvahiAndUnicastDotLocal

So, is there a way to automaticaly remove libdns22 from all computer running ubuntu that have libdns32 ?

How did you upgrade your feisty computer ?

update-manager should take care of removing libdns22 when upgrading from
feisty to gutsy.

There was a bug with update-manager when I upgraded, so i used $ apt-get
dist-upgrade
If update-manager take care of this, lots of people won't have this bug :).

I don't. But I can't test it anymore since I already upgraded. I didn't found error on output. Update manager froze at step 2 or 3 (just before installing package, and just after telling what packages aren't maintained by Ubuntu),
I don't know if the "bug" is real. Maybe french http server mirror wasn't up-to-date, maybe it's normal that it take long time (more than 2 minutes). Others people may have reported it if this is a real bug.

I'm a subscriber of bug #115616 too (in which evms package is a source of troubles). If a solution to remove a package using conflict is possible, it would be great to use it here, wouldn't it ?
Otherwise, I'll change bug's status to invalid.
