reporting "battery critical" when almost full

Bug Description
The battery life tool is incorrectly predicting the life of the battery in Ubuntu 11.10.
This causes an unwanted shutdown when the laptop has plenty of power left. It has done this immediately after pulling the power out of the back of the laptop - My battery is not faulty.
