Bug Description

Description: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Release: 14.04

bash-completion:
  Installed: 1:2.1-4
  Candidate: 1:2.1-4
  Version table:
 *** 1:2.1-4 0
        500 http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/ trusty/main ppc64el Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Bash completion miserabily fails if you have $( as shown below:

greg@prato:~$ any_command $([PRESS TAB]

and you get this:

greg@prato:~$ any_command $(-bash: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `)'
-bash: syntax error: unexpected end of file
