Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

During the install process (in "expert mode") I am prompted to choose a kernel, the possibilities are:
linux-generic
linux-image-generic
linux-image-2.6.34-4-generic

linux-generic is a meta package depending on the same package as linux-image-generic

these choiced should be explained (if they have different consequences) or be removed

Yes, it does. Don't use expert mode unless an installer developer recommends that you do so in order to avoid a problem.

(Note that I'm not closing this bug - it is a bug, but UI warts in expert mode aren't a priority to fix, and if you care about them you should simply not use expert mode.)

affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu) → base-installer (Ubuntu)
Changed in base-installer (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Triaged

Colin, thx for the info - my one and only intention (on *this* stage) is testing - so I'll keep trying whatever comes my way :-) and I don't expect anything to be fixed quickly.
