Bug Description

Binary package hint: base-installer

I installed UNE on my emachines netbook. The install was performed from a flash USB drive. The install proceeded and completed normally and I was prompted to reboot. I took out the USB drive and rebooted. Ubuntu would not boot, all I saw was a blinking cursor. Numerous tries at powering on and off resulted in the same behavior.

I got it to work by actually inserting the USB drive into a USB slot, powering on the machine, and going into the BIOS to change the boot order so it would boot from the hard disk first, and usb drive second. Then it worked fine.

So for some reason it appears to be searching for the USB drive upon first boot up. Subsequent boot ups work fine without the USB drive in place.
