Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

ubuntu-8.10-alternate-lpia.iso from http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/ports/releases/intrepid/release/

After installing the base system, the installer throws an error:
"No installable kernel was found in the defined APT sources"

It then offers you to continue without a kernel, or you can say no and it throws you back to the select a step menu.

I also had the same problem. As per other advice seen on the internet, I did an ALT+F2 to console, chroot and then tried to install from apt-get with the linux-lpia packages, but it returned tons of errors.

Are the packages even there?

Ooph, I just hit this as well.

Install CD verified, burnt at slowest setting, etc. This happened whether the network was configured or not.

I'm sorry, I don't have Ubuntu installed on my VIA C3, only booted into an initramfs (I can only boot on FAT16); I hope this is enough:
vendor_id : CentaurHauls
model name : VIA Nehemiah

I booted up to busybox in the initramfs just fine with the lpia kernel.

I can confirm that these changes properly fix kernel installation on lpia on jaunty when using a kernel that can successfully run cdrom-detector (or using a netinstall image I assume).
