Problem started after music library from a NTFS mount was added, the software became non-responsive and thus had to be killed.
Since then the banshee player does not lauch, so using Rhythmbox instead, but that gives issues too.

The Banshee crash is unrelated to Rhythmbox, and is actually Bug #873787. Considering this bug has more Banshee debugging information than Rhythmbox, I'll mark this as a duplicate of that bug. Please file a new bug for the Rhythmbox crash, and add the crash output of Rhythmbox (a stack trace would be useful, I reckon).
