Bug Description

Binary package hint: banshee

Steps to reproduce:

1) Start banshee from the terminal

2) Observe the following output:

3) Start any playlist (double-click on "Music", or "Unheard", etc)

4) Music starts playing. Note that the progress meter (the slider near the top left corner) stays "Idle" with no time information.

5) A few seconds later, the window greys out. UI is unresponsive.

6) When the song is finished, no further music plays. UI still unresponsive. Keyboard shortcuts for next song, pause, etc. are unresponsive.

* The errors relating to org.freedesktop.Avahi seem to be a red herring. The same problem reoccurred when I was connected to a different network, and the Avahi error wasn't there.

* Bug is intermittent, in that sometimes Banshee works properly. But when this problem occurs, it will continue occurring until the machine is rebooted (logging out doesn't fix it).

Andrew, Please could you check if this behaviour is still occurring with latest release of banshee 1.8.0 included in Ubuntu Maverick?

I tried, but could not reproduce this bug using banshee 1.8.0 on Ubuntu 10.10.

* the org.freedesktop.Avahi errors don't show up on the console
* progress meter always works, UI is always responsive

Just for completeness, here's the console output:
