Bug Description

I don't really understand the issue of bug 42863, but for me, I don't have to "kill the application".

However, up to .10.12 banshee has had random freezes (for about 1 second) causing the audio to pause during this freeze (this, believe me, is freakingly irritating). I found that it could be fixed by turning off the metadata searcher.
Since .11, this trick doesn't work. It freezes every now and then, completely destroying all possible pleasure of listening to music.

This simply _has to be fixed_. Can't believe it remains for such long time without any (core) developer fixing it. Now, that might not be up to ubuntu devs, but I've tried to register for account on gnome bugzilla several times for a few years without success, so I post it here.

Do you still have this with 0.11.1-0ubuntu2 in latest edgy?

And I agreed that this should be fixed if still there... but nobody I know has this issue and it's almost impossible to fix unless beeing able to reproduce it.

Started banshee without errors, warnings etc.
Started playback of an ogg file (Queen, It's A Kind of Magic), when I got an error saying that banshee failed to find a part of the path /home/mylogin/.gnome2/banshee/plugins (not 100 % bout the path, should say in my attachment).

Can also verify that the sound freezes for up to two to three seconds, but only shortly after banshee has been started, and only once. Never stalls later on (so the theory with metadata indexing sounds reasonable to me).

Haven't used banshee before so I can't compare to how things worked in previous versions.

I have the same problem as Fredrik. I start Banshee with no problems. About a minute into the song, I get a pop up that says it has encountered a "fatal error" listing "an unhandled exception was thrown: Could not find a part of the path "/home/don/.gnome2/banshee/plugins"." as the reason. The song continues to play and if I ignore the box, you wouldn't know anything was wrong. As soon as you click ok, Banshee closes. Unfortunately, there's no way to ignore the popup box.

I have created the ~/.gnome2/banshee/plugins directory and that prevents the error (work around).

This seems to be the same problem as in the upstream bug #375992.

Also, the same problem occurred to me with banshee 0.11.2-0ubuntu1 and banshee-official-plugins 0.11.2-0ubuntu2 in Feisty. Fredrik Wendt's workaround seems to have stopped the problem, though.
