banshee fails to retrieve album metadata

Banshee failed to retrieve the track information from musicbrainz when I inserted a CD to test. This looks suspiciously similar to this bug:

Worse, it provides a bogus error message:

"Cannot search for CD metadata: there is no available internet connection".

(I sniffed the network traffic -- it is getting to musicbrainz just fine)

I did some additional testing:

Oddly, it was unable to retrieve album metadata for a CD that sound-juicer *could* look up. It must not be exactly the same issue (eg: with the musicbrainz library).

Does this happen for all of your CDs? Could you name some?
Also do you have network-manager running and does it think that you are offline? There should be some message printed right after banshee's start...

for me without NM it's:
"Warning: [14.04.2006 18:49:53] (Cannot connect to NetworkManager) - An available, working network connection will be assumed"

I upgraded to the latest dapper bits and tried again with the failing CDs. No longer repros. Must be fixed.

Maybe the fix for sound-juicer was at the libmusicbrainz level and it solved both problems? I reinstall fresh for most of the dapper milestones and I don't think I ever had network manager installed this time around.

I'll test with a larger sampling of CDs and reactivate the bug if it happens again.

There also were many changes in the package since 0.10.0-1ubuntu1 which is really ancient... and also some changes lately that could have fixed this.

Feel free to reopen it if it happens again for you but please check on http://musicbrainz.org if they really include the album before
