Did you ever have installed a banshee compiled yourself from source?
In that case please verify that all parts are really gone. (rm -rf /usr/local/lib/banshee /usr/lib/banshee and then reinstall banshee)

Awesome, that did the trick. I totally forgot that I had compiled banshee from source a while back. Deleting /usr/banshee and then reinstalling did the trick.
