Banshee crashes immediately due to Podcasting extension

Bug Description

Upon installing Banshee 2.6.2 from the main repositories on Ubuntu MATE 14.04, the music player immediately crashes upon start-up.

After analysing the crash and researching for a solution, it appears to be a problem when loading the Podcasting extension.

This can be fixed with one of two ways:
a. Remove the file /usr/lib/banshee/Extensions/Banshee.Podcasting.dll
b. Create the directory 'Podcasts' in the user's home directory.

I have attached the terminal output, which appears to have a problem with GLib.

A similar bug appeared in 2010 with Ubuntu 10.10:
