Bug Description

Binary package hint: backuppc

Upgrading Ubuntu to version 9.04
Gets to "Installing the upgrades"

Stops during installation with message in terminal such as

Setting up backuppc (3.1.0-4ubuntu1) ...
mkdir: cannot create directory `/var/lib/backuppc/pc/localhost/': File exists

Also asked for prompt "N" or "Y" (default "N") and some other options, basically "do you want to skip backuppc upgrade?"
No response on my part seems to make it go further in install.

Finally hit Ctrl-C, get message window to confirm. Installation continues.

Then still in "Installing the upgrades" the Terminal says again

Setting up backuppc (3.1.0-4ubuntu1) ...
mkdir: cannot create directory `/var/lib/backuppc/pc/localhost/': File exists

Ctrl-C again. Get Upgrade complete but there were errors. Did not get to "Cleaning up" or "Restarting the computer"

Distribution Upgrade window finally closes.

Forgot to mention, I had chosen to keep backuppc configuration when queried by installation.
I have /var/lib/backuppc as a link to another large drive.

I'm wondering if the link was valid at the time of the upgrade... However since it also contains a mention about an altered 'TopDir' (although through creating a link) I'd think a reference to bug 246659 is in place here.
