Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:

1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Please also ensure that you include the release and flavour of Ubuntu that you are using.

Thank you!

I would try
sudo apt install --reinstall backport-iwlwifi-dkms
Reboot, for some reason you don't have the latest version of the package from bionic updates that is version 7906-0ubuntu4~18.04.2

Dear Jeremy,

Hi,
Thank you so much for contacting me.
My laptop was very badly crashed last week after Intel update.
My laptop's Ubuntu is just start running a few days ago. My laptop is Dell XPS-13 developer edition (Ubuntu operation), but somehow, they installed new hard disc with Windows.
I used Dell's recovery application to reinstall Ubuntu system.

I tried to fix the problem as your direction, but I received the error message as below.

noriko@noriko-XPS-13-7390:~$ sudo apt install --reinstall backport-iwlwifi-dkms
[sudo] password for noriko:
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to acquire the dpkg frontend lock (/var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend), is another process using it?

Ubuntu asked me to report the problem, so I filled the form.
I am glad I had done because I didn't know without your notification. This is running little bit funny.
I am experiencing regularly that the double click is not always working. I tried to fix the issue at settings, but it comes back over and over.

If you have any suggestion for the problem, please provide me your guidance.
I have an exam tomorrow, so I would like to fix after it. Therefore, you don't need to provide me the advice immediately.

Thank you so much.
Regards,

    Noriko

Dear Jeremy,

Hello,
Thank you for contacting me.

I think that I didn't let Windows be running. However, I need further technical support.

This morning the laptop didn't want to boot. When I push the start switch, my laptop shut off after around 20 seconds.
I attempted many times, but it didn't boot.
Eventually, the laptop could boot, but it is obvious my laptop has issue.
I already contacted to Dell Linux support team, so they will help me.

Thank you so much for your kindness.
Regards,

Dear Jeremy,

Hello,

My computer is running very well now because your team mate You-Sheng Yang sent me the information.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1886911 ***
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1886911

(I ran "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade", so it updated as "Linux 5.4.0-58-generic". Somehow, my old one's version was 4.15.0.)

Could you please convey my thanks to You-Sheng Yang because I cannot reply to his/her email?
I appreciate your team's support.

Thank you so much for your great help.
Regards,

    Noriko
