Bug Description

Binary package hint: azureus

I installed azureus (Ubuntu 7.04, all updates) but it doesn't start. If I try to start it with "azureus" from the console, I get: "exec: 40: java: not found" even though, Java (package j2re1.4) is installed.

I reinstalled Ubuntu 7.04 and the error doesn't occur anymore. Must be some Upgrade caused bug.

I also get this, I'm running Gutsy 64 bit version. I'm not sure why this is happening.

On a slightly different note, java will not work in firefox either. I don't know if this is related, or if I should file another bug, but I'd thought I'd add it in just in case it helps.

Thanks for this bug report

In order to work, azureus needs a Java environment. Most probably that Stephan didn't have java configured correctly the first time.

rubbsdecvik : In order to get more information about your problem, can you do this :

1. Install/Reinstall sun-java6-jre | You can do this by typing this on a terminal "sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre"
2. Configure your system to use Java | Tou can do this by typing this on a temrinal "sudo update-alternatives --config java" and choose the Sun java in the list

After these 2 steps, can you confirm if you still have this issue?

Note : The only one azureus version that doesn't crash at start is the one from Gutsy backports version 2.5.0.4-1ubuntu3~gutsy1

According to the fact that this bug doesn't seem reproducible and that there's been no activity for almost 30 days, I set the status to invalid. Please re-open it if you can reproduce it again, and thanks for your contribution.

This behaviour is back in jaunty. The fix is easy: just edit /usr/bin/azureus (which is a shell script) and remplace the line JAVA="/path/to/an/inexistant/java_vm some_options" to JAVA="/usr/bin/java some_options". /usr/bin/java is automatically linked to a java vm.
