If you want to associate files with applications not listed in the 'Properties'->'Open with' list, you can click a button below to display more of them. However, when you click it, Avidemux-GTK is not among the listed applications.

[Test Case]
1. Invoke the 'Open with...' dialog by right-clicking on a file.
2. Click the 'Show more applications' button to reveal installed applications list.
3. Avidemux-GTK will not be in the list.

Affectation to Avidemux desktop launcher and ability to launch Avidemux from menu.

Finally managed to create my first merge proposal. Sorry for the comment noise.
Merged against precise first because it is my testing environment. Not sure about which .desktop file to modify, still not familiar enough with packaging. Should I also modify debian one?
Merge workflow comments/mentoring is also welcomed.
