Thanks for the bug report.
awn-manager is not compatible with Awn 0.3.9, you need to use awn-settings. I'll force the removal of awn-manager in the next upload.

This bug was fixed in the package avant-window-navigator -

avant-window-navigator ( lucid; urgency=low

  * New upstream snapshot.
   - Switch to main trunk branch.
  * debian/control:
   - Add Conflicts on awn-manager for awn-settings (LP: #507822)
   - Remove build-depends on python-elementtree.
