This bug is tagged needs-packaging which identifies it as a request for a new package in Ubuntu. As a part of the managing needs-packaging bug reports specification, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Specs/NeedsPackagingBugs, all needs-packaging bug reports have Wishlist importance. Subsequently, I'm setting this bug's status to Wishlist.

Changed in automake (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Wishlist

We have generally adopted Debian's packaging of automake (and other similar tools), only doing minor version updates within series.

I'd rather wait for Debian to package, and adopt from there

- especially true since the Debian maintainer may drop 1.10 along with updating to 1.11

ok, anyway if anyone knows a PPA with automake1.11, please post here

Javier, take a look here:
I'm testing it and seems to work.

W: automake is in main but its source (automake1.11) is not - continuing anyway.
I: automake1.11 [universe] -> automake_1:1.10.2-1ubuntu2 [main].
