Bug Description

Binary package hint: audacity

I am using audacity 1.3.5-2 in ubuntu 8.10.
I can run audacity perfectly well after the first installation.
But when I reboot the machine, then audacity cannot be run.
If I try to start audacity in the terminal, the follow message appears:

audacity: src/hostapi/alsa/pa_linux_alsa.c:764: BuildDeviceList: Assertion `snd_config' failed.
Aborted

I try to remove audacity, and then install it again, then it works again.
But next time after reboot, it cannot work again, and the same message appears.

The message said something about alsa, but I am using oss, as my sound blaster XFi cannot work in alsa. Is it something due to the oss?

Thank you very much.
