Audacity hangs resizing its window

This problem occurred when running Audacity 2.0.5 for Ubuntu 14.04 in a VirtualBox 4.3.12 VM hosted by Windows 8.1.

When clicking on the audacity window's maximize button the process locked up. This has happened many times previously.

While this Ubuntu window was locked up I loaded the wave file that was involved in the problem into Audacity 2.0.5 for Windows and everything behaved flawlessly. There are apparently significant porting issues involving the Linux version of Audacity 2.0.5 that are not present in the Windows version.
