audacity freeze while editing a track opened from a 24-bit flac file

I'd recorded a file in Audacity a couple of days ago, and exported it as a 24-bit flac file. Today I opened that flac in Audacity and started editing it. After a some successful editing, I was playing back a little of the track, and when I hit the Stop button, Audacity froze. The track is over an hour long.
