    As a temporary solution (a workaround) i can advise to edit the configuration file:

     In the file /home/tosik/.audacity-data/audacity.cfg ... you should cut the TempDir parameter, i.e. make it like this:

[Directories]
TempDir=

    After this you can start 'audacity' ...

I'm getting this in Archlinux. I also tried the workaround using the TempDir with ~ for user directory and it worked. So:
TempDir=~/audacity
